I absolutely LOVE making hair bling, and have been so fortunate to have made quite a few hairpieces this year for lovely brides and special event attendees. Here’s one from a wedding this September.
For this one, the bride wanted two hair flowers - one in ivory to match the wedding dress for the ceremony (which I also did the alterations for, and made a bustle), and one in red to honour her Chinese heritage at the reception, complete with a matching red chiffon sash. For the ivory flower I used some of the spare silk from her wedding gown. This was a STUNNING dress, and about half a foot too long for our petite bride! The good thing about this was that after hemming I had a good remnant of delicate embroidery to play with, and the leaf motif worked beautifully with the flower design. Both flowers had Swarovski crystals and clear and pearl glass beads at their centre.
I’ve ended up becoming friends with the bride (who was already in my extended circle), and was really honoured to receive an invite to their special day. And I tell you what, it was special. So very lovely, full of sunshine and family and simply amazing food! I’m so happy for you both, Quyet and Edwin xox
Oh, and to see the earrings that I made on the ears of your cute bridesmaids was the icing on the cake!
